Contract Polishing & Wood Finishes

The team at RGA Forster have many years experience in restoring and refinishing all types of wooden structures including Doors, Paneling, Staircases and Floors. Both traditional and modern methods are used to ensure a first class appearance coupled with usability and long life

Below are some examples of restoration work which has been carried out recently in a Country House in Kent

Wood paneling was used in early buildings as a primitive form of heat insulation in addition to it's decorative attributes. This has left a legacy of wood lined rooms with magnificent doors, floors and staircases that can be restored to their original condition when entrusted to reliable hands

New door Original door

Doors are stripped, repaired and refinished to restore them to their original condition

In situations where doors are missing or damaged beyond repair, a replica can be manufactured from original materials and finished to give an exact match with the surviving units.

Paneling is often damaged by environmental conditions such as rot or the infestation of boring insects. The main frame will be restored when necessary, the panels cleaned and repaired and the whole structure refinished to return the paneling to its original condition.
New items such as book cases can be constructed to match exactly the original paneling.

Refinished staircase Refinished staircase and floor

A staircase is often the focal point when entering a building and as such it would have been used to demonstrate the social standing of the house owner.

Minor repairs and refinishing of a staircase can bring immense prestige to a building and return it to it's former glory.

Floors are the forgotten jewel in the crown and the continuous ware from foot traffic tends to mask their true splendor. Made from natural wood they have the grain and colour of any piece of furniture.

Cleaning and refinishing of wooden floors can bring to life a magnificent work of art that could so easily go unnoticed
